Enjoy time with the family in downtown Greenville

GREENVILLE – A brand new First Friday is coming to downtown Greenville on Friday, May 7. Thanks to support from Mercer Savings Bank, Main Street Greenville will be hosting a Family Game Night First Friday.

Part of this event will bear some resemblance to the classic Monopoly board game and will encompass all of our downtown businesses. We will transform our downtown into a giant Main-opoly board that will feature our wonderful downtown businesses and will encourage visitors to shop local and support our locally owned and operated downtown businesses. Downtown Greenville is fortunate to have a wide variety of businesses with a wide array of products and services.

As visitors stroll through downtown they will notice Chance or Community Chest signs. Stop in and play their game and you could win discounts, services or other prizes. Shoppers will have the opportunity to send a friend to the make-shift jail at the Welcome Center or have a chance to Collect $200.

Present two receipts from your purchases downtown and you can send a friend to our jail. You won’t need to post bail, but you will need to roll doubles with our oversized dice to get out. This will be a perfect opportunity for selfies and a chance to make memories with your friends and family. The person you send to jail must be downtown at the time you present your receipts.

Persons presenting three receipts from purchases on that day will be entered for a chance to Collect $200. There will be three $200 prizes. Although most of the events will take place from 6-9 p.m. on May 7, receipts from throughout the day will be accepted for the $200 prize. The prizes are sponsored by Mercer Savings Bank and The Merchant House.

Beginning at 6 p.m., local groups and organizations will host games in downtown Greenville. Many of those groups will be located on Third Street. Stop by with your children, play a game and you could win prizes. There will be a giant checkers board, sidewalk chalk and other fun games to play.

If your organization would like to participate and host a game or donate prizes, please contact Main Street Greenville at info@mainstreetgreenville.org or call 937-548-4998.

Plus, with the weather warming up, this will be a great time to visit one of local restaurants and grab a beverage and enjoy the DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) program.
