Main Street Greenville, Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization, committed to stimulating and supporting revitalization efforts, historic preservation and economic growth in downtown Greenville, Ohio. This position is hired by the executive committee of Main Street Greenville Board Members, subject to the approval of the full Board of Trustees.


Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for initiating, coordinating, and implementing a downtown development program based upon organization, promotion, and design.

The Executive Director is responsible for:

  • Initiating ideas for projects and discussions of issues related to the mission of Main Street Greenville.

  • Facilitating elements necessary for successful expansion and planning of ideas and projects.

  • Implementing, by direction of the Board of Trustees, the ideas, issues, and projects needed to successfully carry out the revitalization of downtown Greenville and sustain its viability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Be thoroughly familiar with all persons and entities directly or indirectly involved with the downtown district. Develop strategies for building from the community’s resources.

  • Serve as a resource for property owners and tenants with individual building improvement projects, interior and exterior, through personal consultation or aiding with the involvement of professional design consultants and contractors. Provide the necessary information to downtown business and property owners regarding grants available to facilitate improvements to individual properties within the Main Street District.

  • Oversee tourism marketing efforts, both in house and through independent contractors.

  • Encourage the success of downtown activities such as promotions, advertising, and special events. Create and establish new promotions and events that will create community ownership, enticing visitors to enjoy and return to downtown Greenville.

  • Collaborate with other organizations, when possible, to conduct events, and advance projects to the benefit of the community, local businesses and/or organizations.

  • Coordinate activity of Main Street program committees and assist with the creation and implementation of work plan items.

  • Be knowledgeable and speak confidently about the organization and use that knowledge to secure corporate sponsorships, serve as a spokesperson for the organization, and engage with individuals to encourage volunteerism.

  • Be innovative and confident about adding new programs and initiatives that complement the mission of Main Street Greenville.

  • Be able to communicate effectively to advance fundraising efforts.

  • Work with volunteers to introduce and conduct events.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Community oriented and passionate about adding features, improvements and more excitement to Greenville.

  • 3+ years education/experience in at least one of the following areas: historic preservation, finance, public relations, economic development, marketing, planning, business, or retailing.

  • Experience in understanding the issues confronting business and property owners, public agencies, and community organizations.

  • Entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, creative, well-organized, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment.

  • Superior communication skills are essential.


Language Skills

Superior verbal and written communication skills. The individual must be able to effectively communicate within large group presentations, Board of Trustee meetings, standing committee meetings, and 1-on-1 meetings with current and prospective downtown business owners.


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

The Executive Director will be expected to be a participating member of any relevant local, state, and national organizations. Must have a valid driver's license.
