For several years now, First Fridays in downtown Greenville have brought people together to enjoy shopping, dining, music, and to celebrate our community. Main Street Greenville would like to expand upon the success of First Fridays with a new idea: Street Art Saturdays!
The idea is develop downtown Greenville into a regionally recognized arts center and destination by distinguishing itself as a vital community that fosters, celebrates, and inspires creativity.
Street Art Saturdays will transform downtown Greenville into outdoor performing arts festivals with musicians and visual artists sharing their talents with the community as people gather in the downtown district.
In tandem with the flourishing Farmers’ Market, Street Art Saturdays will foster the vibrant energy in downtown Greenville making it the place to be this summer.
In 2016, we will offer three weekends of Street Art Saturday events, with the hope of growing the program to 20 weeks in the future.
The 2016 dates will be held on the second Saturdays of the month this summer:
Each Saturday, we will feature 6 "stages" throughout downtown Greenville: 1 band, 2 solo/duo musicians, and 3 visual artists.
Schedule of events during Street Art Saturdays:
9 AM - 1 PM: Farmers' Market
10 AM - 1 PM: Visual Artists
11 AM - 1 PM: Band / Musicians
Pay Structure for Artists:
Bands - $225
Solo/Duo - $150
Visual Artist - $100
If you are an artist, please complete the Artist Application and return to our office before April 30th at 5 pm.
All applications will be reviewed by the Street Art Saturday Committee, who will make the final decision on who we book for the events.
